There is a massive amount of publicly available resources. Because of this, the public is the best handicapper. It takes in the opinions of every possible source, whether good, bad, or even crazy. The lines posted here in the Las Vegas books or on the internet consist of various opinions. These opinions come from Wise guys betting thousands per game. They also come from those crazies using horoscopes, insider tips, favorite mascots, and hunch plays. The public can predict winners at 54% on average in MLB. Yet, they’ll also be down hundreds of units. (Yes, hundreds…EACH). The betting atmosphere has changed since we started out. Back then, we simply won by having a computer. Now, sportsbooks try less to keep up with it. They focus more on predicting what the public will do. They counter this with psychological traps. We just try to think the same way they do.
