Sports Betting ROI Calculator

Calculate your sports betting return on investment, win rate, net units, average profit per bet, and break-even comparison. ROI is one of the cleanest ways to measure whether a betting process is producing value over time.

Total amount wagered across all bets. Use dollars or units.
Enter profit as positive, loss as negative.
Used to calculate net units. Leave blank to use average risk per bet.
Used for break-even win rate. American odds format.
Changes labels only. ROI math is the same.
Formula: ROI = Net Profit Ă· Total Amount Risked Ă— 100. A bettor can have a strong win rate and still produce poor ROI if the prices are bad. ROI measures return relative to total risk.

What Is Sports Betting ROI?

Sports betting ROI measures how much profit or loss a bettor generates relative to the total amount risked. It is more useful than win rate alone because it accounts for price, bet sizing, and long-term return.

The basic formula is: Sports Betting ROI = Net Profit Ă· Total Amount Risked Ă— 100.

For example, if you risked $10,000 across all bets and made $800 in profit, your ROI would be 8%.

Why ROI Matters More Than Win Rate

A bettor can win more than half of all bets and still lose money if the average price is too expensive. A bettor can also win less than half of all bets and still make money if they are consistently taking plus-money prices.

That is why ROI is one of the clearest long-term performance metrics in sports betting. It measures return against risk, not just how often a bet wins. For a pre-wager projection rather than a completed-results measurement, use the Sports Betting Expected Value Calculator.

What Is a Good Sports Betting ROI?

Over a small sample, ROI can be misleading. A few wins or losses can distort the result. Over a larger sample, positive ROI becomes more meaningful because it reflects sustained performance relative to total risk.

  • 0% ROI means break-even before considering opportunity cost.
  • 1% to 3% ROI can be meaningful over a large sample.
  • 5%+ ROI is strong if sustained over enough bets.
  • 10%+ ROI is exceptional and should be evaluated carefully for sample size, market type, and tracking accuracy.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the total amount risked across all bets.
  2. Enter your net profit or loss.
  3. Add wins, losses, and pushes if you want win-rate calculations.
  4. Add your average odds if you want a break-even comparison.
  5. Add unit size if you want net units calculated from your own staking method.

ROI, Documentation, and Long-Term Betting Performance

ROI only matters if the results are tracked honestly. Accurate betting records should include wins, losses, pushes, odds, amount risked, and net profit. Without documentation, ROI becomes a guess rather than a performance metric.

That is why long-term tracking matters. The goal is not to chase short-term streaks. The goal is to measure whether a betting process creates value across a meaningful sample.
